embrace autumn and be like the squirrel

A_Squirrel

As the fall season slowly starts her decent into our lives, so does the internal space of moving within.

If you’re sensitive enough and paying attention, you might have already begun to notice the subtleties of the changing seasons (i.e. cooler breezes, leaves just beginning to fall) and the sudden appearance of those sweet squirrels, out and about, gathering and preparing for the long winter ahead.

Autumn is also the time of the harvest (a beautiful pagan tradition), when the bounty and abundance in our gardens are gathered, feasted upon and celebrated with our family and loved ones.

From my perspective, this time of year is also a time of “calming down” the sun’s fire energy (represented by the summer, a time of high activity.)

In Feng Shui the outer environment reflects the inner space and vice-versa, and many of us are taking our internal cues from our friend the squirrel, gathering and preparing for the winter in our own ways.

What a perfect time to re-acquaint ourselves with our homes and the sacred spaces we can create within them to support our inner most needs and desires. For example, if you like to cuddle under a soft warm blanket, now would be the time to pull your yummiest of blankets out of the closet and keep Her nearby. If you enjoy fires in the fall season and have a fireplace at home, now would be a perfect time to gather wood (from your backyard or consider purchasing a chord of wood with your neighbor.)

How about finally creating that special quiet area in your home and truly making it yours? This special spot could be as simple as placing your favorite chair in front of the fireplace or next to that beautiful window in the bedroom. Keep your yummy blanket nearby along with your favorite teas, smells of incense, essential oils, music, books and other treats that embrace your heart.

Fall is a reminder to love ourselves. How about it? Consider being like the squirrel; gather the things that make you feel special, safe, comforted, warm and nurtured and enjoy them through the winter (and beyond.)

Know that you are worth it.

Have a wonderful fall season my friends.

~~Cheryl~~

the power of artwork in our personal spaces

amore_lg

From a Feng Shui perspective, artwork in our personal spaces is an outer reflection of our what’s going on in our internal space; what we think and how we feel.

For example, if you are single woman looking for a romantic partner and all the artwork in your home shows single images (like an empty boat on a beach), ask yourself the questions, “What is this artwork saying to the Universe about me and am I asking for what I really want?”

If your answer is “no” to either one of the above questions, then perhaps it is time to re-think what is hanging on your walls.

The image shown above (by A. Andrew Gonzalez) is a perfect example of the power of suggestion and working with the energy of your space to attract a romantic partner.

The piece called, “Alchemico d’Amore” or “Alchemy of Love” is so energetically powerful, the scene almost jumps off the canvas. The feeling of  “love” is very potent here and if love is what you want to attract, I encourage you to hang artwork that truly reflects it on every level.

Then wait, and see what happens.

If you need help, just ask. :-)

the importance of a greeter in your business

PC048770

When I first walked into Mosaik Design’s beautiful Interior Design appointment-only showroom, I felt lost. “Where do I go?” I thought. There was no clear visible answer, so I simply sang out a strong “Hello.”

It turned out I wasn’t the only one who felt that way. As I later learned, clients and others who entered the front door also didn’t know which direction to go, and that left them feeling confused. In the language of energy and in my view, that translated to an energetic block–missed opportunities and lack of focus–all of which were not contributing to good business or energetic harmony.

After discussing the problem and the appropriate solutions with owner Arlene Lord, she immediately went to work to change the space. (See photos at left.) Arlene, who is a very gifted artist/designer, created an intentional entryway that was beautiful, welcoming and focused.

Objects placed on the foyer table had meaning. The shape of the table served to direct energy in the appropriate direction into the next room. The painting gave the eye a calm place of focus and represented the element of water, appropriate to the Feng Shui of the space.

The placement of the hand sculpture called, “Vitarka Mudra” on top of the foyer table (see above photo)  is not only a Spiritual symbol in Buddhism that means “Intellectual Discussion”, but also serves to guide those entering into the next room, which also happens to be the meeting room where clients and designers meet to discuss projects.

Interestingly, when Arlene purchased the item she had no idea what it meant. Only that it spoke to her from a deeper place. In my view, it was confirmation that her body intuitively understood something on a level that her mind did not fully comprehend.

Finally, the sign “Welcome to our Style, What’s Yours?” with an arrow into the room was strategically placed to announce the business and direct the flow of energy.

All of the above collectively came together to create a harmonious, beautiful, welcoming entryway and a wonderful first impression to all those who enter.

How has this improved business?

Now when clients walk through the front door of the showroom they are clearly greeted and guided into a waiting area before they are met by a designer or staff member. This helps begin each important business transaction with the client feeling oriented and at-ease. The psychological benefits of mutuality and trust from a transaction that begins in this way can extend throughout the deal, benefiting both Mosaik Design and their clients.

calling on the energy of fu dogs for protection and respect

PC048787

After a few minutes on the phone with my client, I knew her situation called for a strong and immediate approach. My client and her business partners were being disrespected and it was coming from every direction. Clients were manipulating, vendors dishonest, and everyone at the company felt taken advantage of.

My client was doing her best to honorably work with clients, vendors, and subcontractors and others, but it felt like an uphill battle.

Call in the Fu Dogs

I immediately advised my client to place two statues of fu-dogs at the exterior entrance to her office. Fu-dogs were originally used in China in front of ancient imperial palaces and temples. They also symbolize great wealth, good social status, command respect and provide protection.

Two fu-dog statues made out of alabaster and imported from China were immediately placed in the appropriate area at the exterior entrance of the business.

My client describes the results:

“My business partners and I often joke about the pre-fu dog and post-fu dog days. The changes were that significant. After we took action on Cheryl’s recommendation and placed two fu-dogs at the exterior front entrance of the office, things changed drastically and immediately. Clients who were taking advantage of us either dropped off the map or became more agreeable. Dishonest vendors and others simply disappeared. The vacuum created by that change opened up space for new clients, vendors, and sub-contractors who were honest and respectful. That was a huge relief for all of us!”

Part of the magic of Feng Shui involves knowing what you want, so that you can create a space that reflects your desires and values. I just love it when clients allow me to use my intuition and knowledge of design and Feng Shui to help them get in touch with what they want and create a space that perfectly mirrors who they are.

For this client, wanting to be respected and treated honestly was just the beginning. By working together with the surrounding energy, we were able to reflect that inner desire externally into her space. The results quickly exceeded her expectations and brought joy to my heart.

ingite passions, dreaming of beautiful spaces

modernt-med-gammal-sjal

One of the benefits of being a sensitive being is the intense joy I feel around my passions; one of which is to gaze through magazines both online and in print, and gather my favorite images of different living spaces across the globe.

Here are a few from my collection that feed my soul in a variety of ways:

The image above shows a home located on the Baltic Sea in Sweden. Its fresh and light energy reminds me of what it would be like to float on a cloud.  If I close my eyes, I can feel the cool breeze of the sea kiss my face.

This queen’s palace of an office is perfect for my Leo heart’s desire.  From Domino, the magazine that is no longer in print and is sorely missed.

I love the jewel tones of red, magenta and blues mixed with the washed out floor, ultra-thick antique white molding, the horizontal designed headboard and the lighting dropped from the ceiling.  Delicious European design.

I love the idea of a high quality wallpaper backsplash in a kitchen.  It’s much more affordable that your traditional tile counterpart, and when you get bored of it you can easily switch it out for an updated look.  I think this idea might be put to use soon in our kitchen remodel.

Design is art and beauty that deeply feed my soul.
